Of the four Addmotor trikes compared on this page, the Grandtan II has the highest rider rating, and it is the only one with a 24-inch front wheel. Addmotor’s answers to buyers say it rides on all terrain, beach sand included with some air let out of the tires. At Zeus it costs $800 less than the Arisetan II M-360, which shares its motor and battery but seats you reclined, and $1,000 more than the 500 W Citytri E-310, which folds. ⚠️ Canadian legal note
Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021, so e-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Addmotor rates the Grandtan’s rear motor at 750 W (its Canadian product page labels it a “750W Rear Drive Motor”, while its spec table there says “Rear-Mounted”), which is above that 500 W line. So in the provinces that set it, this trike is not treated as an e-bike for public roads, bike lanes or paths, even though its assist stops at 32 km/h.
Ride it on private land, or off-road where the landowner allows it, and check your province and municipality before any public-road use. Need a trike for public roads? Start with our 500 W collection → and the Canadian e-bike laws guide →

Watch: Addmotor’s assembly and controls guide
Addmotor’s own 12-minute video, posted 6 March 2024, shows how to finish assembling the Grandtan II 2024 and how to operate it. It is the video Addmotor’s FAQ points to for the final assembly steps.
Looking for a review? Electrek’s February 2023 review tested the earlier M-340, which it lists with a “750W front-geared hub motor” and 80 Nm. Addmotor has since moved the motor to the rear, so check any figure there against the specifications below.
Why riders choose the Grandtan II
- The highest rider rating of the four Addmotor trikes compared here. 159 kg (350 lb) plus 45 kg of cargo, against 127 kg for the Arisetan II M-360, the Freetan M-368X and the Citytri E-310.
- A rear differential and a parking brake. Addmotor says the differential lets the rear wheels turn at different speeds, which cuts slipping and hopping in turns, and the parking brake holds the trike on an incline or while you take a break.
- Pedal or don’t. The torque sensor matches assist to how hard you push, across seven levels, and a half-twist throttle lets you rest your feet on the wooden footrest and ride on the motor.
- Fat tires front and back, with the biggest front wheel of the four. 4-inch tires, 24-inch in front; Electrek credited that 24-inch front wheel with better obstacle climbing than smaller wheels. Addmotor describes the Grandtan as designed for all-terrain adventures.
Key features
- Rear drive, 750 W rated, 90 Nm: Addmotor’s model table rates the Grandtan M-340 at 750 W continuous and 1,400 W peak, and Addmotor cites 90 Nm of torque. Addmotor says it stopped making front-motor trikes because rear-motor trikes give better traction, stability and handling.
- Torque sensor, seven assist levels, half-twist throttle: Assist rises and falls with your pedal pressure; Addmotor says the result is acceleration that powers through inclines without sudden jerks. The variable-speed throttle works without pedalling.
- 48 V 20 Ah battery with Samsung cells (960 Wh): UL-certified, removable for charging indoors, and charged by a 48 V 2 A charger with a magnetic 5-pin plug. Addmotor lists UL 2271 and UL 2849 for it and puts a full charge at 8 to 10 hours.
- Rear differential and parking brake: The differential helps the rear wheels track through turns; the parking brake keeps the trike from rolling on a slope.
- Tektro mechanical disc brakes on all three wheels: Cable-operated discs at every wheel, with brake lights in the 5-in-1 taillight.
- Addshox oil-spring fork, 80 mm of travel: Front suspension only, with no rear shock. Electrek, testing the earlier M-340, found the fat tires’ air volume and the fork together kept the ride comfortable.
- 4-inch fat tires: 24″ front, 20″ rear: On aluminum double-wall rims, with inner tubes (Addmotor), so carry a pump: the Grandtan Pack includes one.
- Shimano 7-speed with a KMC stainless chain: Seven gears for pedalling up grades or cruising with less assist.
- EB 2.0 lights and a 5-inch display: A headlight run from the main battery, a 5-in-1 taillight with turn signals and brake light, and Addmotor’s 5-inch LCD showing battery, speed, assist level and lights, on a 25 A Addmotor controller.
- Comfort and carrying: A saddle with a backrest, a wooden footrest, a front basket and a rear basket that Addmotor rates for 100 lb (45 kg).
Size & fit
Addmotor fits the Standard Grandtan, the version we sell, to riders from 5′2″ to 6′4″ (157.5 to 193 cm). It is 82 cm (32.3″) wide, a figure Addmotor confirmed on its question page in October 2025, so measure the narrowest door, gate or shed opening it has to pass first.
| Measurement | Inches | Centimetres |
|---|---|---|
| Rider height | 5′2″–6′4″ | 157.5–193 |
| Total width | 32.3″ | 82 |
| Total length | 77.6″ | 197 |
| Wheelbase | 49″ | 124.5 |
| Standover height | 17.5″ | 44.5 |
| Saddle height | 32.5–39″ | 82.6–99 |
| Handlebar height | 43″ | 109 |
| Reach | 13″ | 33 |
| Front basket (L × W × H) | 13.5 × 10 × 5″ | 34.3 × 25.4 × 12.7 |
| Rear basket (L × W × H) | 20.5 × 16 × 9.5″ | 52.1 × 40.6 × 24.1 |
Taller than 6′4″? Addmotor also makes a Grandtan Plus on 26″ front and 24″ rear tires for riders 5′5″–6′5″; ours is the Standard. Shorter than 5′2″? See the Citytri E-310 in the comparison.
What’s in the box
The Grandtan II (M-340) arrives 85% pre-assembled (Addmotor’s figure). Addmotor says you fit the front wheel, front fender, pedals and handlebar, and its video above shows each step. The box holds the trike, battery, charger, front and rear baskets, and the Grandtan Pack, which comes free with every Grandtan II (M-340) from Zeus. Addmotor lists the pack at $569; it holds:
- Mirrors
- Rear rack
- Cleaning tools
- Bike pump
- Water bottle
- Bracket holder extender
- Front basket
- Phone holder mount
- Rim reflective tape stripes
No storage bag: Addmotor says the bag is not included, and its FAQ says its trikes stopped shipping with one in 2025 (an older Addmotor feature tile still mentions a waterproof bag). Addmotor sells a rear-basket storage bag separately.
Prices in CAD, October 2026. Pack contents and value as Addmotor listed them on 17 October 2026.
The honest take: what we’d change
- It is big, and it does not fold. 197 cm long and 82 cm wide, and 49 kg (108 lb) on Addmotor’s spec table (one Addmotor reply in March 2026 put it at about 123 lb). Addmotor says it does not fold and suggests a hitch carrier for the car; owners also use a pickup bed or a small trailer. If it has to go inside a car or up stairs, the Citytri E-310 folds and weighs 39 kg.
- Front suspension only, and cable brakes. An 80 mm Addshox fork, no rear shock, and Tektro mechanical disc brakes rather than hydraulic ones. Electrek, reviewing the earlier M-340, wished for hydraulics on a trike this heavy, for stronger stopping and less cable adjusting. If your routes are rough and you want rear suspension, the Freetan M-368X adds a rear shock, for $2,600 more.
- It sits tall, so take corners slowly. Electrek, testing the earlier M-340 on the same 24- and 20-inch wheels, found its higher centre of mass made it tippier than other trikes it had ridden: tight circles lifted the outer wheel, and riding across a hillside felt uneasy. Addmotor’s own answer to a buyer: “it takes practice to get used to turning”. Slow down before corners, avoid riding across steep side-slopes, practise somewhere quiet first, and wear a helmet.
Worth it if you want a 159 kg rider rating on an upright, fat-tire trike, and you have room to park it and a way to move it.

Who the Grandtan II is for
- Heavier riders who want to sit upright: 159 kg rider rating, the highest of the four Addmotor trikes compared here. More in our heavy-rider guide.
- Riders who carry things: Front basket, a rear basket rated for 45 kg, and Addmotor’s 2026 Trailer for Trikes lists the Grandtan series as compatible. See our cargo e-bike guide.
- Off-pavement riding on private land: Farms, cottages and acreages where the landowner allows it, on fat tires front and back. Our fat-tire guide explains what the width buys you.
- Seniors and riders who want three wheels under them: Addmotor answers yes to whether it suits seniors and riders with disabilities, citing the backrest and footrest. Our trike-matching guide for seniors covers fit and step-over.
Who it’s not for
- Commuting on public roads in a province that sets the 500 W line: look at the 500 W collection, including the 500 W Citytri E-310.
- Riders under 5′2″, or anyone who needs it to fold into a car: the Citytri E-310 fits riders from about 5′1″ and folds.
- Back or hip pain that makes an upright seat hard: the semi-recumbent Arisetan II M-360 or, with a 29 cm step-over and rear suspension, the Freetan M-368X.
- Riding across steep side-slopes: Addmotor builds the Freetan M-368X around a low centre of gravity (9 cm, its figure).

Warranty: Addmotor’s terms, backed by Addmotor in full
Addmotor’s limited warranty covers manufacturing defects in material or workmanship, counted from the date of purchase. We file and follow every claim for you.
- Frame: 2 years
- Motor: 2 years
- Battery (20Ah, the size on this trike): 2 years
- Fork, stem, handlebar, headset, seat post, lights, bottom bracket, rims, wheel hubs, derailleur, throttle, wiring harness, controller and LCD display: 1 year
It does not cover normal wear or consumables (tires, tubes, brake pads, rotors, bearings, cables, grips, chains, cassettes and spokes), theft or vandalism, or damage from accidents, misuse, neglect, commercial use, modifications, improper assembly, maintenance or repair, water, extreme or stunt riding, or not following the owner’s manual. Battery damage from a wrong or damaged charger, improper storage or extreme temperatures is excluded too, and Addmotor pays for a repair at another shop only when it approves the quote before the work is done.
Check the trike when it arrives. Addmotor asks for shipping damage, including missing pieces, to be reported within 5 days of receiving the trike, with dated photos of the damaged part and of the box, and for visible damage to be noted on the carrier’s bill of lading before you sign. Keep all the packaging until the inspection is finished. Tell us right away and we file it with Addmotor.
Your first month of Zeus Care is included: assembly walkthroughs, remote diagnostics, maintenance help and claim handling, by phone, email or video. Zeus Care plans continue it for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years ($119, $229, $339 or $599). Zeus Care is a service: it does not add warranty coverage.
Shipping & Delivery
- Shipping: Free shipping to all 10 provinces.
- Ships from: Canada. Addmotor dispatches Canadian orders from its warehouse in Aurora, Ontario.
- Timing: We process your order within 1–3 business days. Addmotor’s Canadian shipping guide says an in-stock order leaves its Aurora warehouse within 2–10 business days of order confirmation (its general FAQ says 1–2), and transit time depends on how far you are from Aurora.
- Tracking: By email, as soon as the trike ships.
- Delivery: Addmotor uses FedEx, UPS or Purolator for most bikes, and an adult over the age of 18 has to be there to sign for the delivery. If a delivery truck cannot reach your address, the carrier may ask you to collect the trike at a location it names.
- Where we deliver: Addmotor does not ship to Yukon, the Northwest Territories or Nunavut, and we do not ship to P.O. boxes. If you live in a remote community, call us before you order.
Returns: 15-day returns from delivery on an unused, unopened trike in its original packaging (15% restocking fee; you pay return shipping). A trike that arrives factory-defective, with under 10 km of use, is a dead-on-arrival case: tell us within 14 days of delivery and we help arrange a refund or a warranty repair.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Addmotor Grandtan II the same trike as the Grandtan M-340?
Yes. Addmotor’s model name is Grandtan M-340 eTrike, and its Canadian shipping guide and its own assembly video call it the Grandtan II. Owners often write the model code as M340. Ours is the Standard version, on a 24-inch front and 20-inch rear tire; Addmotor also makes a Grandtan Plus on 26-inch and 24-inch tires.
How much weight can the Grandtan II carry, and how much does it weigh?
Addmotor rates it for a 159 kg (350 lb) rider plus 45 kg (100 lb) of cargo in the rear basket, 204 kg (450 lb) in all. Addmotor’s spec table puts the trike at 49 kg (108 lb); one Addmotor reply on its U.S. question page in March 2026 said about 123 lb, so size a hitch carrier or ramp for the heavier figure.
How wide is it, and will it fit through a door?
It is 82 cm (32.3″) wide and 197 cm (77.6″) long, Addmotor’s figures; Addmotor confirmed the 32.3-inch width in October 2025. Measure the narrowest opening on your route. Older Addmotor answers from 2023 give 33.5″ for the earlier build.
How fast does it go, and is it legal on Canadian roads?
Assist stops at 32 km/h (20 mph). Canadian e-bike rules are provincial and converge on a 500 W motor and 32 km/h (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Addmotor rates this motor at 750 W, above that line, so in the provinces that set it the Grandtan II is not treated as an e-bike on public roads, bike lanes or paths. Ride it on private land or off-road where the landowner allows it, and check your province and municipality first. Our e-bike laws guide has each province.
How far does it go on a charge, and how long does charging take?
Addmotor quotes 64–137 km, the top figure at pedal-assist level 1. Our estimate for mixed throttle and pedal riding is about 45–65 km (960 Wh at 15–21 Wh per km). Addmotor says cold reduces a battery’s efficiency and range. A full charge takes 8–10 hours on the included 2 A charger, according to Addmotor’s answers to buyers.
Is the battery removable, and can I get a spare?
Yes, it comes off for charging indoors. Addmotor makes a matching 20 Ah Samsung UL-certified battery for the Grandtan M-340 series; call us at 1-866-938-7580 and we will check price and availability.
Is it front- or rear-wheel drive, and does it have a differential and a parking brake?
Rear drive, with a rear differential and a parking brake. Earlier M-340s were front-drive: Electrek’s 2023 review lists a front-geared hub motor, and a 2023 Addmotor answer says front wheel drive. Addmotor says it stopped making front-motor trikes because rear-motor trikes give better traction, stability and handling. Some older answers on its question page say there is no parking brake; in February 2025 Addmotor answered that it has one now.
Can I pedal it with the battery off or flat?
Yes. Addmotor says you can pedal it normally, though it is harder to pedal than an ordinary bicycle, and the pedals move only when you pedal them.
Can I ride it in rain, snow and road salt?
Addmotor says a normal rainy ride is fine, but do not ride through water above the lowest point of the controller, and do not leave the trike in a wet place for long. In winter it advises storing the battery indoors at 5–20 °C, never in an unheated garage or shed, washing the trike with mild soap and water after every ride on salted roads, and running slightly higher tire pressure on the Grandtan in the cold. Water damage is outside the warranty. More in our winter guide.
Does it fold, can it pull a trailer, and how do I transport it?
It does not fold. Addmotor suggests a hitch carrier; owners also use a pickup bed or a trailer. Check the carrier’s weight rating and width against the trike. Addmotor lists its 2026 Trailer for Trikes as compatible with the Grandtan series, and says its older fat-tire trailer is not suitable for trikes. We do not list the trike trailer on our site, so call us. If it must fit inside a car, the Citytri E-310 folds.
How much assembly does it need?
It arrives 85% pre-assembled. Addmotor says you fit the front wheel, front fender, pedals and handlebar, and its 12-minute video on this page shows each step. Zeus Care, included for your first month, adds an assembly walkthrough by phone or video.
Is it stable enough for seniors or riders worried about balance?
Addmotor answers yes for seniors and riders with disabilities, pointing to the saddle with backrest and the wooden footrest, and the step-over is 44.5 cm (17.5″). Three wheels hold it up at a stop, but it sits tall: Electrek found the earlier M-340 could lift a wheel in tight circles, and Addmotor says turning takes practice. Slow down before corners and wear a helmet. Our seniors guide compares the trikes we sell.
What comes in the box, and is the storage bag included?
The trike, battery, charger, front and rear baskets, and the Grandtan Pack, free with every Grandtan II from Zeus (Addmotor lists it at $569). The storage bag is not included: Addmotor says so, and its FAQ says its trikes stopped shipping with one in 2025.
Where is Addmotor based, and where are its trikes made?
Addmotor says its story began in 2011 in El Monte, California, where it lists its warehouse and showroom at 4188 Arden Drive, and that it has its own factory for designing and manufacturing. The Addmotor pages we read do not say where that factory is. Canadian orders ship from Addmotor’s warehouse in Aurora, Ontario.
What warranty comes with it?
Addmotor’s: 2 years on the frame, motor and 20Ah battery and 1 year on the listed parts, backed by Addmotor in full; we file and follow every claim. Your first month of Zeus Care is included, and Zeus Care plans continue it for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years ($119, $229, $339 or $599). Zeus Care is a service: it does not add warranty coverage. Full terms.
Are there reviews of the Grandtan?
Electrek reviewed the earlier, front-motor M-340 in February 2023, and Addmotor lists five YouTube reviews of the Grandtan. To talk it through with someone who knows the line-up, call 1-866-938-7580.
Can I finance it, and what is the return policy?
Yes: our financing guide lays out the options and the math. Refund policy.
